Our Green Promise

We recognise our responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the NHS ambition of becoming the world’s first net‑zero health system. Our Green Promise sets out the practical, measurable actions we take to minimise environmental impact, reduce carbon emissions, and deliver services in a way that aligns with NHS procurement expectations, including the Social Value Model, and Net Zero Supplier Roadmap.

Low‑Carbon Travel and Transport

  • Public transport first: For all journeys where it is feasible, safe, and efficient, we prioritise public transport to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Electric‑vehicle–only business travel: All consultancy travel is undertaken using fully electric vehicles, which are charged exclusively through solar‑powered systems. This ensures that our travel‑related emissions are as close to zero as practicable..

  • Local delivery wherever possible: We actively design our service model to use local providers, venues, and suppliers to minimise travel distances for both our staff and our clients, to reduce emissions, and support local economies in line with NHS Social Value priorities.

Renewable Energy and Sustainable Operations

  • Solar‑powered operations: Our office and charging infrastructure are powered by solar panel systems, ensuring that the majority of our operational electricity is generated from renewable sources.

  • Paper‑free by default: We operate a digital‑first, paper‑minimisation policy, using electronic documentation, secure digital signatures, and cloud‑based collaboration tools. Paper is only used where legally required or explicitly requested by NHS partners.

  • Low‑impact digital infrastructure: We use energy‑efficient devices, cloud services with strong sustainability credentials, and data‑minimisation practices to reduce the carbon footprint of digital operations.

 Sustainable Procurement and Supply Chain

  • Local and low‑carbon suppliers: We source materials, venues, and subcontracted services from local providers wherever practicable, reducing transport emissions and supporting community wealth‑building.

  • Environmental due diligence: We assess suppliers against environmental criteria, including their carbon‑reduction commitments, waste‑management practices, and alignment with NHS sustainability expectations.

  • Minimal waste generation: We avoid single‑use materials, prioritise recyclable or reusable products, and ensure responsible disposal of electronic equipment.

Alignment with NHS Procurement and Net Zero Requirements

Our Green Promise directly supports the NHS’s sustainability and procurement frameworks by:

  • Contributing to Net Zero NHS targets through demonstrably low‑carbon operations and travel.

  • Delivering Social Value in line with the UK Government’s Social Value Model (TOMs), particularly:

    • Tackling climate change and reducing waste

    • Supporting local communities and local economic growth

  • Supporting the NHS Supplier Roadmap by embedding sustainability into our governance, risk management, and service‑delivery processes.

Our Promise

We commit to delivering Human Factors and Governance expertise in a way that is environmentally responsible, socially valuable, and fully aligned with NHS sustainability ambitions. Our approach ensures that every engagement, whether an investigation, training programme, or system‑design project, is delivered with the lowest possible environmental impact and the highest regard for the NHS’s net‑zero future.
